Lake Country's beloved Creekside Theatre experienced an unfortunate sprinkler activation incident on Monday that has resulted in extensive flooding.

"Singing in the rain is the only thing that will be playing at Creekside Theatre for the next while," said the statement on Creekside Theatre's Facebook page.

"Due to an unfortunate sprinkler activation incident Monday afternoon the Creekside Theatre will be CLOSED until further notice."

According to the Facebook post, the Creekside Theatre had scheduled a planned maintenance closure for July and August, so the flooding incident actually only adds an extra 10 days to the planned closure.

"We have a deluge system at Creekside Theatre as a fire prevention mechanism, which is activated through an alarm and through an unfortunate event it was activated, even though there was no actual fire," said Lake Country's Cultural Development Coordinator and Kelowna City Councillor Ryan Donn.

"There are still free summer concerts all summer long live with the Live in Lake Country Concert Series which are hosted at the beautiful parks around the district throughout the summer."
