UPDATE: Oyama fire just 0.4 hectares and being monitored

(UPDATE: July 9th @ 12:10 p.m.) - A quick response from ground crews prevented a small fire in Oyama from growing out of control.

According to the Kamloops Fire Centre, the fire is listed at only 0.4 hectares.

The fire is currently being monitored and is in patrol.
 

(UPDATE: July 8th @ 5:50 p.m.) - The small wildfire above Oyama that was called in by the public at around 3:00 p.m. on Saturday was hit hard and fast by BC Wildfire. 

At the moment according to a BC Wildfire information officer, this fire seems to have responded well to a quick attack from an Initial Attack crew along with air tanker support.

A wildfire has broken out in Oyama this Saturday afternoon.

The Kamloops Fire Centre received a report at about 3 p.m. on Saturday of a fire in the Oyama Lake area near Oyama.

The BC Wildfire Services crew has responded with a response officer and an initial ground crew, as well as air tankers.

Details are still unfolding, but action has been taken by firefighter crews.
