Calling all love birds! We are a week away from Valentine’s Day, and for those of you who haven’t heard yet, we are running a love story contest for our readers!

Our readers will be sending us their love stories for us to share in the days leading up to Valentine's Day. We will be publishing some of the best submissions, and we’ll pick one lucky lover as our contest winner. Their Valentine will receive a special surprise, personally delivered by us to their workplace!

Here is one of our first love stories, submitted by Amanda for her husband Rhys!

Amanda and Rhys

The happiest memory I have with my valentine is our wedding day, as cliche as that sounds.

We have been together six years. We moved from Calgary to Kelowna together. Shortly after moving here in 2014, our son Bentley was born. He was born with a complex heart condition that had us living in Vancouver out of BC Children's Hospital on and off again for the first two years of his life.

He has been through two open-heart surgeries and our relationship has been tried and tested. Proven true through that time with him, we remained a strong team.

Our focus was on our son, and when we finally came through that together as a family and brought our son home, Rhys decided to propose to me! We got married in August and that was a day I had been waiting for since I met him.

We now have a daughter as well, just born three weeks ago, and our little fighter Bentley too. We have it all.

One Valentine's Day that stands out for me was one of the first when we still lived in Calgary. We went to the old spaghetti factory for dinner, made a Build a Bear, and went two-stepping at Ranchman's!

He is my rock, my safe place, and my best friend.
