(UPDATE: April 1 @ 12:40 pm) - At this point, it comes as no surprise, but the plug has officially been pulled on Brett Kissel's Waterfront Park on Saturday, May 30.

Live on the Lake with Brett Kissel was meant to be held as part of the Memorial Cup festivities, but the tournament was cancelled on March 23.

"We’ve been receiving inquiries about the status of the concert and in light of last week’s announcement about the cancellation of the CHL playoffs and the 2020 Memorial Cup," said Tom Dyas, chair of the Host Committee.

"We are also announcing the cancellation of additional community events planned around the tournament."

Dyas said all of the hardworking volunteers were greatly disappointed to have to cancel the Kissel show, but safety is the number one priority at this time.

Tickets will be refunded through Select Your Tickets starting on Thursday, April 2.

(Original story: Feb. 10 @ 2 pm) - It won’t just be the hockey that will entertain fans at the Memorial Cup in Kelowna this year.

You can also expect some fantastic tunes courtesy of a special concert called ‘Live on the Lake’ that will take place on Saturday, May 30.

Today, it was announced that Brett Kissel will headline the event, which will take place at Waterfront Park.

"We always knew we wanted to do something extra special for the 2020 Memorial Cup when we set our minds on winning the bid, something distinctly Kelowna," explains Tom Dyas, chair of the host committee.

"Holding a special weekend concert on the beach with the backdrop of Okanagan Lake is the perfect way to showcase our community to the nation, and featuring an incredible Canadian musical artist like Brett Kissel highlights the Kelowna experience even more."

In 2019, Kissel’s record We Were That Song won the Juno Award for Country ALbum of the Year and his latest album, Now or Never, came out last month.

Tickets for the can’t-miss evening of music will cost you $49 plus taxes and fees.

They go on sale on Friday, Feb. 14.
