Kelowna was buzzing after news broke that MasterChef Season 5 winner Beccy Stables was moving to the city to start her new catering company.

That buzz is just a small example of the popularity the cooking show has gained after just five seasons in Canada.

While lots of home kitchen chefs talk a big game, some may actually have what it takes to make it in the MasterChef kitchen.

Auditions are now open for Season 6 and here's how you can apply.

First, you have to be able to legally travel within Canada and be able to take 40 consecutive days off for filming.

Other requirements include that you do not have a criminal record, are not and never have been a professional chef or have otherwise worked in a kitchen or restaurant, and you have to be physically and mentally healthy enough to endure the pressures of the show because the judging can be rather harsh.

Those interested can apply online and submit a photo of yourself to go with the application.

There is also the optional step of submitting a video explaining why you should be the next Masterchef.
