There’s so much musical talent in the Okanagan that it’s easy to lose track of it all, but you don’t want to sleep on BL00M.

The three-piece post-hardcore band just dropped a new single “Lights Out” along with an accompanying music video.

It’s about anxiety and depression, something that too many people deal with in their everyday life, including the band’s lead vocalist Jenna Johnson.

“I wrote this song when I was 18 in one of the darkest times of my life,” she explains. “I have struggled with anxiety and depression since I was young and music has been a huge outlet and support for my mental health.”

Not only is the song impressive and heartfelt, but the video is quite well done as well and it was certainly a team effort, says Johnson.

The band, which is made up of Johnson, Mattaio "Yayo" Sharhon and Alexis Artiga, wants to thank everyone that came out to make it possible, but a few people specifically.

Dave Hall provided his lovely home for the shoot, videographer Nick Schafer of Fresh Finish Media put it all together, make up artist Tanna Yarschenko made the whole thing pop and Keaton Moore is the talented actress you see throughout the video.

“Lights Out” is off BL00M’s upcoming EP, Hopeless Souls, which Johnson expects out in late November.

You can see the band play live well before then, however, as they’re scheduled to play at The Habitat on Oct. 11 alongside Living Machines and Shark Infested Daughters.
