Moving to the big city to pursue a career in the arts is a common practice and it’s the route that a pair of Kelowna sisters have taken.

Avery and Elle O’Brien were born and raised in Kelowna, but have moved to Vancouver to further their career in music.

That’s where they created the indie pop band Harlequin Gold.

The band’s first single, Without You Now, came out over the weekend and it’s absolutely worth a listen.

The chemistry between the siblings, who have been singing together since a young age, is obvious.

Combining their soft vocals and harmonies with harder guitar elements, they’re able to create a dream and upbeat sound.

The sisters say they take their influence from artists like The Cranberries, Maggie Rogers and Alvvays.

If you want a great spot to catch them live this summer, it was just announced that they’ll be playing at Vancouver’s popular Khatsahlano Street Party on Saturday, July 7.
