One of the biggest names in electronic music over the last decade has died.
Tim Bergling, better known by his DJ name Avicii, was found dead in Muscat, Oman today.
He was 28-years-old.
His publicist, Diana Baron, confirmed the news in a statement.
"It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii," she said. "He was found dead in Muscat, Oman this Friday afternoon local time, April 20. The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given."
The Swedish DJ launched into the mainstream electronic dance music (EDM) world in 2011 with the release of his smash hit 'Levels' and his career took off from there.
He continued to release some of the biggest EDM hits in the world over the next five years, including 'Wake Me Up,' 'Hey Brother,' 'Seek Bromance,' 'Addicted To You,' and 'Waiting For Love.'
In 2016, however, Avicii announced a retirement from touring, citing health reasons.
It appeared that he was starting to get his career back on track over the last two years, releasing a six-track EP in 2017 and even announcing an upcoming third studio album this year.
Tributes have already started to pour in on social media from musicians and fans alike, as the EDM world starts to mourn the premature loss of one of its biggest stars of the past decade.
