While many are celebrating the somewhat international holiday Superbowl Sunday, others are participating in the Twitter-wide commemoration of the career of Janet Jackson, an American entertainer best known for her musical talents.

The salute to Janet allegedly began as a form of remediation from the events during Superbowl 38 in February 2004 when Janet’s breast was temporarily exposed during her halftime performance with Justin Timberlake.
Janet's day of tribute began with a tweet in 2018 from Matthew A. Cherry, a former NFL football wide receiver and current filmmaker, which merely said, “We should do a #JanetJacksonAppreciationDay this Sunday.”

Twitter responded with a loud echo of assent and the day was celebrated in synchronization with Superbowl 52, which featured Justin Timberlake at the halftime show in Minnesota.
This year, Twitter showed that it doesn't forget and celebrated the second annual Janet Jackson Appreciation Day.
