Another British Columbia music festival bites the dust.

Rifflandia Festival announced on Thursday that there will be no 2019 festival, but there are plans to return in 2020.

The festival was established in 2008 and has showcased more than 1,500 artists over the past 11 years at a number of different Victoria venues.

“Building Rifflandia has been an incredible journey filled with amazing musical memories and accomplishments,” said a statement from the festival.

“But as our city continues to change before our eyes, our region's unique festival landscape is evolving and this requires our careful attention to ensure that Rifflandia is able to thrive for years to come, alongside our artists, audience and partners.”

The 2019 lineup had not been announced yet, but last year’s roster featured Daniel Ceasar, Jessie Reyez, Adventure Club, Current Swell, Lights and more.

Over the years, the festival has drawn names like Death Cab For Cutie, Girl Talk, City and Colour, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, The Flaming Lips and more.

For anyone who bought early bird tickets to this year’s festival, they can be refunded at point of purchase or held and redeemed for a ticket in 2020.
