Whether we like it or not, summer is coming to an end. While that means the end of sunshine-filled days and care-free fun, it also reminds us that we still have one final bash to bid the season farewell!

Most of us already have our ticket to Denim on the Diamond (DOTD), one of the city’s biggest outdoor music events of the year, but for those of you who don’t we have a list of reasons you better snag yours quickly.

Here are the top five reasons you should giddy-up and get in on DOTD 2019, which also happen to be the same reasons it was voted the “Best Festival” in the city for 2018.

1. It is the perfect way to kiss summer goodbye

From catching up with old friends or making new ones, to the undeniable atmosphere for laid-back fun that lingers throughout King’s Stadium — DOTD embodies all of the things that make summer great!

It even has delicious food, ice-cold bevvies and lawn-games, the top three things you need to make any summer party a good one.

2. The lineup

Undoubtedly the biggest draw of the event has to be the roster of award-winning artists the organizers manage to wrangle.

With the James Barker Band set to headline and Madeline Merlo along with Leaving Thomas ready to support — the fest musters up summer soundtrack like no other!

The best part? The great tunes don’t just linger on the country music spectrum!

Juno nominated blues-rockers The Harpoonist & The Axe Murderer will serve up diversity on a silver platter, with The Katherine’s pop tinted R&B shooting out tracks that will make anyone get up and dance.

We can’t forget about our hometown rockers Lucky Monkey and Mabaleka who are also ready to rip up the stage.

3. The inclusive crowd and dress code

DOTD welcomes one and all, truly! The all-inclusive event draws a diverse crowd of anyone and everyone.

It is a mix of old, young, scenesters, country lovers, rock music lovers, sports enthusiasts, foodies and social butterflies all joining for a drink and for the love of denim.

While you don’t have to rock your Canadian tuxedo, denim is the festival’s mascot and for good reason!

It is the universal fabric that stitches together genders, generations, cultures and all music genres into one cozy, comfortable and versatile fabric.

4. The philanthropy

While partying is fun, partying for a good cause is always better!

DOTD is all about supporting the community and those who need a hand up. This year a portion of the event’s proceeds will be going toward charitable organization Music Heals and their program at Kelowna's Spring Valley Care Centre.

The Vancouver-based initiative offers music therapy programs to those in need. From seniors in retirement homes who need a pick-me-up to youth battling with anxiety, DOTD wants to showcase the power music has to heal.

5. It’s commitment to supporting local

DOTD is produced by two Kelowna locals, Kurt Jory and Mitch Carefoot who pride themselves on empowering the small yet mighty businesses that reside here in the Okanagan.

If you're wanting to see more cool events in Kelowna and support the amazing food and drink vendors that have our backs all year round, vote with your feet by attending DOTD!
