Get into the holiday spirit with Uptown Rutland’s Christmas Light Up

Light up the season, Valley First, a division of First West Credit Union presents Uptown Rutland’s Christmas Light Up 2019!

Come join the community of Rutland in celebrating the spirit of the season, Sunday, December 8th. 

Starting at 1 pm, Plaza 33 will be hosting some free family fun events and Santa is coming to the Rutland Library.

Across the street, you can witness the official Light Up at 5 pm in Roxby Square.

Here’s the schedule of events:

1 to 3:30 pm at Plaza 33 (inside the mall)

     🎄Crafting

     🎄Letter writing to Santa

     🎄Valley First Community Crew will be doing some fun face painting 

     🎄Crafters’ Market


At 3 pm, Santa will make a special appearance at the Rutland Library to read a story.


3:30 to 5 pm at Roxby Square

     🎄Scrimmage with the Kelowna Chiefs

     🎄Outdoor games by City of Kelowna Active Living & Culture

     🎄Hot Chocolate, cider and cookies

     🎄Chilli and a bun

     🎄Carolling with RSS Choir

     🎄Visit Santa on the First Canada Transit Bus


After this jam-packed day of fun, make sure you’re at Roxby Square at 5 pm for the official tree Light Up. It’s going to be so big and bright that Santa will be able to see it from the North Pole!

If you haven’t heard, there’s still time to enter the 24 Days of Giveaways Contest, it goes until December 8th. After witnessing the lighting of the tree, keep your ears open for the big announcement of the Grand Prize Winner for 24 Days of Giveaways — it could be you!  

On Sunday, December 8th, join the community of Rutland, dress warm and spend the evening gathered around the Sunbelt Rentals heaters, spreading tidings of great joy. 

They’re also the ones providing lights, so you can scrimmage with the Kelowna Chiefs and enjoy the obstacle race from the City of Kelowna Active Living and Culture Team.

This event is free because the Uptown Rutland Business Association is fortunate enough to have so many community-minded sponsors and partners. All they ask is at the event, go visit First Canada Transit, who are accepting cash or non-perishable donations for the Salvation Army.

Don’t miss the celebration of the season, Christmas Light Up 2019 is Sunday, December 8th. This family-friendly, enlightening event is where everyone can sing loud and appreciate everything Kelowna has to offer, which can be found right here in Rutland.
