Pathways Abilities Society hosted their annual barbeque event today for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic to celebrate their 69 years of service.
Pathways is a non-profit organization that assists people with diverse-abilities to reach their individual goals and participate as equal members of the community.
Executive director Charrise Daley said this event was unlike the ones Pathways had prior to the pandemic because some safety precautions were still in effect, such as mandatory masks.
However, the barbeque was still a smashing success.
The crowd of more than 100 community members was pleased with the burgers, but enjoyed the chocolaty-caramel “Glenda’s dessert” the most, which was made by their Camp OAC coordinator.
“That was one of the enticers for the barbeque,” explained Daley.
The activity service supervisor of Pathways, Michelle Blackburne said this dessert has been around for several years at Camp OAC, which has been running for more than 20 years, and it was included on the barbeque invitation.
Pathways is always looking for volunteers to join their team.
