British Columbia is well represented on Expedia’s list of Canada’s best beer town, including the top two spots on the list.

Unsurprisingly, top spot on the list goes to Vancouver, which has quickly become the craft beer capital of Canada, but coming in right behind the biggest city in B.C. is Penticton.

The heart of the South Okanagan earned top marks on Expedia’s annual list, which lists Penticton as a dominant force when it comes to small towns with big beer scenes.

Each city gets graded on their Taps in Town (total number of breweries and brewpubs), Praise and Slays (awards) and Creative Spirit (originality when it comes to creating beer).

Penticton received five out of five for Taps in Town and Creative Spirit along with an impressive four out of five for Praise and Slays.

The write up praises Cannery Brewing Co. and Bad Tattoo Brewing for their awards this year and also gave a shout out to great local events like the Fest of Ale and Penticton Beer Run.

“You’ll have some epic tales of tannins and esters after a visit to this sessionable city,” it explains.

Behind Vancouver and Penticton in the top two spots, other B.C. cities to make the list include Abbotsford (6) and Nelson (11).
