This is not a Woops! Vibrant Vine Winery for sale

Quirky and psychedelic Vibrant Vine in East Kelowna -- the world's only 3D winery -- is for sale.

A health scare for Wyn Lewis, who owns and operates Vibrant Vine with his wife, Marion, prompted the couple to make the decision to sell.

The Lewises haven't officially listed the winery for sale yet while they figure out an asking price.

Even when Wyn and Marion started the winery at 3240 Pooley Rd. in 2010, it was a retirement project after Wyn had made lots of money in international banking in California.

Now they intend to really retire and make more time for family and travelling.

Right from the beginning, Vibrant Vine dared to be different.

The labels for the wine are actually shrink wrapped in kaleidoscopic patterns designed by artist son Phil Lewis.

The winery's eccentricity famously amped up in 2013 when a worker accidentally applied the shrink wrap upside down on bottles of an off-dry white wine.

Rather than fix the blunder, the winery embraced it, called the wine Woops and has kept the head-over-heels label ever since.

The story gets better though.

Vibrant Vine thought it would have some fun and entered Woops in the packaging contest of the World Beverage Competition in Geneva.

However, entries in packaging categories are supposed to be empty bottles.

Vibrant Vine mistakenly submitted full bottles and as a result Woops was entered in the main wine contest.

The series of gaffes led to Woops winning 'best white wine in the world' -- an accolade the winery endlessly promotes for its humour and recognition of a serious wine in an unserious package.

The world's-only-3D-winery claim is made because the consciousness-expanding labels are three-dimensional, as are all the pieces of art on the wall of the tasting room and shop.

Guests are given 3D glasses as they enter the winery so they can have a trippy wine tasting and shopping experience.

Such uniqueness puts Vibrant Vine constantly atop TripAdvisor's best-winery-experience-in-BC list.

The winery has a loyal customer base of locals and tourists, who not only buy wine and belong to the wine club, but show up regularly for wine, art and music events indoors and outdoors.

Thus, whoever ends up buying Vibrant Vine will have to be fun-seeking and wine-loving.
