It’s certainly a sign of the times.

For the first time, Tim Hortons has added burgers to its ever-changing menu, but it’s not the kind of burger many would have expected.

The fast-food chain has introduced two Beyond Meat burgers to the menu, adding to their plant-based lineup that includes three Beyond Meat breakfast sandwiches.

Both burgers feature Beyond Meat’s 100% plant-based patty with cheese, tomatoes, lettuce and mayo.

The classic Beyond Burger then has ketchup and mustard, while the BBQ Beyond Burger has BBQ sauce instead.

"Following the success of the Beyond Meat Breakfast Sandwich launch, we wanted to partner with Tim Hortons to offer Canadians a delicious plant-based lunch and dinner option,” said Ethan Brown, founder and CEO of Beyond Meat.

“With more and more Canadians interested in incorporating plant-based proteins into their diet, we are excited to be able to make our Beyond Burger available at Tim Hortons restaurants across Canada."

The burgers will set you back $5.69 plus tax and you can combo up with a side and beverage if you so choose.
