Accident Closes Highway 1 West of Kamloops

Update 12 p.m.: RCMP have confirmed that a man is dead as a result of the accident. Details found here.

Update: At 9:30 a.m., DriveBC reported that the highway was open to single lane alternating traffic.

Original Story:

The Trans-Canada is closed west of Kamloops due to an accident.

The accident closed Highway 1 early Saturday, May 23rd 10 km west of Exit 362 at the junction with the Coquihalla. The highway is closed in both directions and there is not yet an estimated time of opening. DriveBC reports that crews are assessing the scene.

There is no local detour for the accident.
