You may see a film crew in Kamloops in the coming weeks as the producers of the upcoming Power Rangers reboot scout the area for locations.

Publicist Ernie Malik confirms that the production company, Lions Gate, is in talks with the Thompson-Nicola Film Commission (TNRD) and is scouting potential locations. But nothing has been confirmed.

No locations have been selected said Malik, but it is looking “likely” that the film producers will take advantage of the beauty of the region and set up production dates.

Malik says it won’t be until later next week when decisions will be made, but says fans will be told when and where filming will take place if Kamloops is chosen as a backdrop.

The movie is currently being filmed in Vancouver and features Vancouver actor Ludi Lin as the Black Ranger.

The popular 1990s television show is getting a major reboot as the live action movie is set to debut in 2017. The film features a group of high-school kids who are infused with unique superpowers, and harness those powers to save the world.
