Two people have been found dead of an apparent drug overdose in Kamloops.

On Friday night at around 9:30p.m., Kamloops RCMP and BC Ambulance responded to an overdose call in the Rayleigh area.

When police arrived at the residence, they found a 44-year-old male and 36-year-old female dead inside. Both deaths are believed to be in connection to a drug overdose.

Kamloops RCMP said the latest incident is another reminder of the inherent risks associated with illicit drug use.

“There has been an increase in overdose deaths in recent months which leads police to warning such as these,” said Kamloops RCMP Cpl. Cheryl Bush.

Police said it is still too early to speculate what type of drugs were involved in the incident Friday, but the investigation is ongoing.
