UPDATE: BC Hwy 97 reopens after vehicle recovery north of Vernon

(Update - 2 p.m.): BC Hwy 97 has now fully reopened after a vehicle recovery north of Vernon. 

Travellers should expect some congestion in the area. 

(Update - 1:20 p.m.): BC Hwy 97 is now open to single-lane alternating-traffic north of Vernon. 

The road was closed in both directions near Irish Creek Road due to a vehicle recovery which started close to two hours ago. 

Travellers should expect delays in the area.

(Original - 12:20 p.m.) Residents travelling through the Vernon area should be aware that BC Hwy 97 is currently closed 16 kilometres north of Vernon. 

According to Drive BC, the road is closed in both directions due to a vehicle recovery at Irish Creek Road. 

The next update is scheduled to come out at 1 p.m. As of now, no detours have been reported.
