UPDATE: Man arrested in Kamloops after possible domestic dispute

(Update: Feb 17 @8:30 p.m.) - Police have revealed that last night's incident has resulted in one arrest.

On Feb 16, 2019 at 7:53 p.m., Kamloops RCMP responded to a possible domestic dispute at the 2000 Block of Robson Place.  

Upon police arrival, a man exited the residence with a black handgun. When challenged by police, the man went back inside his residence, closing the door. He refused to surrender to police despite negotiations by telephone. 
 
The Emergency Response Team was activated in the early morning hours of Feb. 17. Tear gas was deployed and the 59-year-old man exited the residence and was taken into custody. Police recovered several air pistols from the residence. The investigation into this incident is continuing.
 
Police say the scene has been released and nearby residents are able to return to their homes.

There is a large police presence in the McGowan area of Kamloops.
