(UPDATE: June 14 @ 8:50 am): Beloved Kamloops pooch Sequoia has been found.

Owner Fauve Garson posted the happy news on Facebook last night.

Garson's mother, Shelaigh, said an RCMP call came in at 3:30 am to tell the family that Sequoia had been spotted on a highway.

Officers then used infrared binoculars to help search for the dog, Shelaigh said.

Later, a mountain biker and some hikers spotted the pooch and sent her location over to Fauve.

Shelaigh added: "She is now at the vet getting some nasty lacerations patched up. Other than that and dehydration she is safe and we are overwhelmed with joy and relief.

"Again thank you all and the power of positive thought and social media for making this all possible!"

(Original story: June 13 @ 3:15 pm): Members of the Kamloops community are doing what they can to reunite a family with their beloved puppy who has been missing since Monday.

According to the dog's owner Fauve Garson, Sequoia became lost shortly after her parents' downtown home was broken into. The initial search had residents looking around 7th Avenue and Nicola Street, though it has since expanded.

On Tuesday, the dog was spotted in the Peterson Creek area, but no one was able to catch her. Witnesses also reported seeing her near the Sa-Hali Hospice at this time.

By Wednesday, it was believed Sequoia could have been taken when she made her way to the highway. This rumour has since been debunked with the most recent sighting.

This morning at 3 am, Sequoia was seen on the highway between Peterson Creek and the turnoff to Sun Peaks. RCMP confirmed she is tired and haggard.

Those who spot the dog should know that, if you call her, she will run away in fear. The best play is to call RCMP at (250)828-3000.

"My family and I want to sincerely thank everyone for their support in searching for Sequoia," wrote Garson. "This is an incredibly heartbreaking and emotional time for us."

As a community, Kamloops has responded impressively, sharing Garson's missing dog posts thousands of times.

"The word we keep using to describe the phenomenal Kamloops community support is 'awe-inspiring.' We are so incredibly thankful to all the individuals who have offered their professional K9 services, time, reward money and energy, not to mention the unbelievable social media response and all of the other help we've received as well."
