After a series of barriers and the use of a police dog, RCMP apprehended three men who were skirting court ordered conditions on Thursday.
RCMP say they received information at 10 am that three men were out without permission from their respective probation officers, after leaving the Vision Quest Recovery Society in Logan Lake, BC.
Police tracked the men to a hotel room they had reportedly rented on Columbia Street in Kamloops, but when RCMP arrived the men fled through a window and into a cab, which dropped them off on Kitchener Crescent.
RCMP say they were able to apprehend two of the men in the area, both in their 20s from St. John, BC, without incident. The third, a Surrey, BC, man in his 30s, was able to escape.
Police closed Tranquille Road and deployed a police dog, but came up empty. At 2:20 pm, they received a call, bringing them back to the same area, where they set up a perimeter, which closed Tranquille Road a second time.
This time, an officer was able to intercept the Surrey man and he was taken into custody without incident.
"The quick response and containment from our officers today directly led to the arrest of 3 suspects, without injuries to
anybody including the suspects," said S/Sgt Mat Van Laer from the Kamloops RCMP.
"We are very thankful for the understanding and the patience of the Kamloops residents that were affected twice today
by this police response," said Van Laer.
Information about the incident is being forwarded to the Kamloops Crown Counsel office for charge assessment.
