RCMP continue to gather evidence in Dallas after a male suspect was arrested for allegedly breaking into two residences and assaulting two men, Cpl. Jodi Shelkie said in a media release.

One homeowner received stab wounds and was released from Royal Inland Hospital last night, while the other is still in medical care.

On the afternoon of November 20th, a Kamloops resident was returning home from work when he found an unknown male in his residence, RCMP say. During the course of the struggle with the suspect, the man received serious injuries, including lacerations to his head.

RCMP say the suspect ran from the house and broke into a nearby residence. The homeowner was inside and received stab wounds in a physical confrontation with the suspect.

Apprehension of the suspect was initiated by an off-duty officer who saw the suspect leaving the second house. The off-duty officer chased the suspect, who ran to a third residence and climbed into a vehicle. RCMP say the officer kept the suspect contained in the vehicle until other RCMP officers arrived on the scene shortly after 4:10 p.m.

Shelkie said the 31-year-old suspect will go before a judge today. He was previously known to police and is from Kamloops.
