On March 15th, 2015 an accidental fire destroyed a vehicle and caused heavy damage to a building. Two people that were camped out beside the shelter lit a candle, and that fire spread to the nearby building.

The fire burned the front of the KGM van and went up the walls of the building. Thanks to the quick response of firefighters, the fire was quickly knocked down and contained to the van and the outside of the building.

There was damage to the roof of the storage building, and the Mission was tasked to find a new space to store those items. Two Kelowna companies, Secure-Rite and Big Steel Box, stepped up to help the mission and donated containers. Now the Mission has new temporary homes for the storage items and it is business as usual at the busy community organization.
