NDP to Nominate PhD Professor for Federal Seat

New Democrats in the Okanagan will gather in Kelowna on Saturday to officially nominate their candidate for the coming federal election.

Norah Bowman will be acclaimed at the meeting for the Kelowna-Lake Country seat, with Federal NDP Finance Critic and BC MP Nathan Cullen in attendance. A Department Chair at Okanagan College, Bowman has built a strong reputation as a lifelong advocate for equality, diversity, workers’ rights, and environmental protection.

The election takes place October 19th, 2015. The nomination meeting will take place at the BCGEU meeting room located at 1064 Borden Avenue beginning at 3:00 p.m.

Bowman first moved to Kelowna in 1994 to attend Kelowna Senior Secondary. She later completed her BA at Okanagan College while working at local wineries and museums as a tour guide and salesperson. Bowman then earned her PhD in English Literature in 2014, and is currently Chair of Interdisciplinary Studies at Okanagan College. Bowman is a professor of English Literature and Gender and Women’s Studies at Okanagan College.
