A new subdivision is on the horizon for the City of Kelowna.

On Monday, City approved a rezoning application in order to facilitate the development of a single family residential subdivision just south of Bellevue Creek and east of Fawn Run Road.

The development will build on an already existing project, the Ponds Bellevue Development, which was finalized back in 2007 under the larger Southwest Okanagan Mission Sector Plan.

The Ponds project consists of predominantly single family residential properties with a commercial centre. The new development will create approximately 31 single family residential lots.

In addition, subdivision development is expected to see the installment of pedestrian sidewalks and recreational trails, including biking paths. Park space will also be allocated within this new residential development.

Council did have some concerns regarding environmental impact and potential ground water issues that came to light in other phases of the Ponds development project.

Future development is anticipated with the subject property to the east and south as well.
