The developers are a business savvy entrepreneur, a home care worker, and a local chiropractor using a family recipe to produce the healthy broth. Co-founder Shane Whittle is known for the global branding of Marley Coffee, an organic tier one coffee company with reggae legend Bob Marley’s son Rohan Marley. Christian Brix is a successful family chiropractor who has a clinic in Kelowna and has been practicing since 2002. Maria Levko, a cancer survivor, has spent her life helping her family and others with their personal health. Using Levko’s secret family recipe, the three founded the company in 2014.

The popularity of bone broth has been making headlines over the past year with celebrities, doctors, and professional athletes touting the benefits of the broth. The broth works as an anti-inflammatory, helps with recovery from sports, promotes proper probiotic balance in the digestive system, and much more.

The trio simmer free range chicken or grass fed beef bones for anywhere from 18 to 24 hours and combine it with a secret combination of 14 other vitamin and mineral rich ingredients that come from “Grandma Maria”.

“With Grandma Maria's guidance and her 200-year-old Slovakian recipe, we have taken a concept and a dream, and have turned it into a reality,” said Whittle. “Bone broth and the countless benefits it can bring to anyone from an elite athlete to a senior with arthritis is now available locally in Kelowna.”

A cup of the broth boasts 24 grams of protein, zero grams of fat, and no sugar, making it ideal for athletes and those that keep active. The product has been so popular that Boned gets sold out as soon as they get the broth on the shelf. The team has even pitched their business concept to the judges of Dragon’s Den, as auditions recently took place in Kelowna.

Currently the Boned Broth is available at the Brix Family Chiropractic and Wellness centre at 106-1851 Kirschner Road in Kelowna. Both the chicken and beef broth cost $12 each and can be pre-ordered or picked up at the clinic. For more information visit the Boned A Broth Company website or their Facebook page.
