The show itself is the tip of the iceberg in any production process, and this is especially true with Cirque du Soleil. Countless hours of practicing must take place before a performer is ready to be seen by an audience, and the costumes that the artists wear onstage have to be designed, sewn, and then maintained on a daily basis.

KelownaNow's Lauren Hjalmarson went backstage at the South Okanagan Events Centre this week to witness the cast and crew of "Varekai" preparing for their opening that night.
