Suspect Robs Convenience Store with Pepper Spray

Kelowna RCMP is investigating following a robbery at a Mac’s convenience store in which a clerk was pepper sprayed.

On Monday, May 24th at around 2:30 a.m., RCMP received a report of a robbery at the Mac’s store located on Richter Street. According to police, a man entered the store and approached the clerk, asking for two packages of cigarettes. The clerk gave the man the packages, but the man then told the clerk he was robbing the store and demanded an undisclosed amount of cigarette packages.

While grabbing the bag from the clerk, the suspect sprayed the clerk with pepper spray. The man then fled the store. RCMP members along with a police service dog attempted to locate him, but they were unsuccessful.

The suspect is described as Caucasian with a thin build, approximately 5’8” tall and around 25 to 30 years of age. The suspect had unshaven facial hair, spoke English, and was wearing a black t-shirt with dark coloured jacket, dark gloves, and dark baseball cap.

This is the second time this month the Mac’s store on Richter Street has been robbed. On May 12th a man used a weapon to rob the clerk. He made off with an undisclosed amount of money.
