You can’t miss the patriotic spirit in downtown Kelowna on Wednesday.

Festivals Kelowna has gone all out on the Canada Day celebrations, and people dressed in red and white are flooding the downtown. There’s booths highlighting Canadian-made products and a children’s area filled with a climbing wall, hula hoops, and other fun games. The walkway brings you to the Taste of Canada Food Fair, a place of delicious smells including perogies, doughnuts, smokies, and fish and chips.

You then spill onto the boardwalk and the beach, where tons of people are cooling off in the water or the shade while listening to live entertainment. The island stage and paths are filled with even more people chattering, laughing, and waving maple leaf flags.

The big finale comes at 10:30 p.m. with the fireworks show at Tugboat Bay, and that’s something you don’t want to miss.

Transit has extended hours for the fireworks, with buses leaving Queensway Transit exchange 30 minutes after the fireworks end.
