The Kelowna Armoury will receive $1.1 million in federal funding to help spruce up the aging building.

Announced on Wednesday by Member of Parliament for Kelowna-Lake Country Ron Cannan, the investment will allow the installation of a new ventilation system, as well as repairs to the roof and lighting equipment.
In addition, the armoury will receive a new paint job.
Work on this project is slated to be completed over the next two years and is expected to help boost job creation in our community.
The Brigadier Angle Armoury is home to the British Columbia Dragoons (BCD), a Primary Reserve Armoured Reconnaissance Regiment of the Canadian Armed Forces based in Kelowna and Vernon.
“I’m thrilled to announce this $1.1 million investment for renovations to ensure our armoury remains a source of pride for generations to come. Not only will this investment provide increased support to our men and women in uniform, it will also promote job creation and economic growth in Kelowna,” said Cannan.
Over the next two years, $135 million will be invested in projects such as the one here in Kelowna. According to the Harper government, such investments will also support the creation of over 10,000 jobs across Canada by the end of 2016.
