After weeks of smothering, dry Okanagan heat, there’s finally a light at the end of the tunnel—if only momentarily.
Environment Canada is predicting a weekend of rain and thundershowers here in the Okanagan. Beginning on Friday, thick clouds will be rolling in with heavy showers expected to begin after midnight.
Moving into Saturday, it looks like the rain will slow down around noon, but then pick up again later in the evening.
There is a 60 per cent chance of rain on Sunday, with a high of 23.
Stifling temperatures will subside over the weekend, but don’t expect the cool weather to stick around. Beginning on Monday, the heat will most likely return, and with no clouds in the forecast to offer Kelowna any shade.
Although the rain might put a damper on our weekend, the Okanagan hills could use a little drink considering the extreme weather we've been experiencing. The rain may also lend a helping hand to the fire fighters battling the blaze in West Kelowna.
Simultaneously moving in with the rain, the smoky skies advisory issued for the Okanagan Valley has since been rescinded and is moving on out.
