After calling the detachment, the off-duty cop followed the driver down Glenmore. A construction zone near McKinley Road stopped the prohibited driver and the off-duty cop.

Shortly after, uniformed officers showed up to the scene and the prohibited driver took off.

Police were ready and waiting for the prohibited driver as he drove towards the Glenmore dump.

After driving over the spike belt, the vehicle attempted to keep driving. Two tires were totally deflated and tore away from the vehicle.

Realizing he wasn’t going anywhere, the suspect took off on foot.

The 34-year-old prolific offender was caught and apprehended after police set up a containment area. He is in custody and faces potential charges under the criminal code and motor vehicle act.

Initial inquiry found that the vehicle was in fact stolen out of Vernon.
