Original Story:

BC Wildfire Service is currently dealing with two small spot fires near McCulloch Road in Joe Rich.

According to Communications Officer Kayla Pepper, the grass fires are about a half a kilometre apart, one of which is 0.1 hectares in size and the other which is 10 by 10 metres in size.

The two fires are very small in size and currently burning at a rank one, which means that they are smoldering ground fires with none to very little open flame.

There are currently eight personnel on site and the flames have been contained.

Despite the hazy Okanagan skies, smoke from the two fires were seen and reported by the public.

“We did receive a number of reports from the general public, so we thank them for calling it in so we could go respond quickly,” added Pepper.

BC Wildfire Service has yet to pinpoint what sparked the two fires.
