The BCSPCA was delighted to report that they surpassed their fundraising goal for the Paws for a Cause walk in Kelowna on Sunday, September 13th, by over $25,000.

The goal was $75,000 and the total came to just over $100,000. This is not including any money that may yet be donated, as the campaign will be ongoing for another month.

“I’ve got to pinch myself, I’m so happy about it,” said Kelowna SPCA Branch Manager Suzanne Pugh on Sunday afternoon. “It’s just tremendous.”

“It’s really shaping out to be such a great year for the animals. Everybody’s really embraced the causes that we have this year. This walk is all about the fight to end animal cruelty, and I think so many people in Kelowna and the Central Okanagan are so passionate about it and that just shows. I think it’s reflected in the support that we had today.”

The Kelowna Branch of the BCSPCA has won "Best Charity" in the Best of Kelowna competition two years in a row. The Paws for a Cause walk is the BCSPCA’s major annual fundraiser. On Sunday in Kelowna, the event was filled out by the presence of community vendors, a kids’ zone, a barbeque, a dog trick show, and more.

Those who wish to contribute can still donate via the Paws for a Cause website.
