Stuart Park in Kelowna will host a throwback to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” on Saturday, October 24th, as Thrill the World takes place across the globe.

At 10 p.m. GMT, thousands of people dressed as zombies will dance together to celebrate the legacy of Michael Jackson and the spooky fun of Halloween.

“Some will be dancing at midnight wherever they are, some will be dancing in the morning, but we’ll all be dancing at exactly the same time,” said Mike Guzzi of Studio9 School of the Arts.

The event will begin at 3 p.m. in Kelowna and will take about five and a half minutes. Over 100 people have signed up to dance so far, and the event will go on during Downtown Kelowna’s “Small Shop Fall”; so there is sure to be an audience as well as spontaneous participants.

“It’s just to get together for a dance, to get together for art... to get together and have a little bit of fun on an October day in Kelowna!” said Guzzi.

The “Thriller” video is available on Thrill the World’s website so that people can watch and learn. Deschner’s Dance Force is also hosting $5 drop-in classes at 7 p.m. on Tuesdays for those who want to practice their moves.

Sign up by using KelownaNow's online form, and be sure to bring a non-perishable food item for the Salvation Army on the day of the event.
