A passenger traveling from Edmonton to Kelowna got a little more than she bargained for during the recent WestJet trip. Nicole Ashley Squires tweeted a picture of men’s clothing and five cans of beer that she found in her suitcase on October 8th.
WTF @WestJet. Opened my luggage and found a mans outfit with 5 coors after it was checked through security #how pic.twitter.com/YECtZnlsql

The tweet was directed to WestJet, and their response was not what she expected. Robert Palmer, Manager of Public Relations with WestJet said the company has apologized about the remark. “Humour is very much an individual thing. It was probably a bit off the mark and we’ve already had a conservation with her and apologized.”

Palmer went on to say after Squires checked her bag it went down the belt and into the baggage room. “It came into the bag room and it was partially open. The bag room staff in Edmonton noticed right next to the bag were a bunch of clothes and some cans of beer. Logically putting two and two together, an open bag with items right next to it, they put the items back in the bag.”
Squires, who is a photographer tweeted on October 9th that all she wanted was a quiet vacation.
Palmer finished off by saying WestJet just made a mistake. “This is a pretty classic case of people acting with the very best of intentions and they simply made an honest mistake.”
