Anyone who is interested in venturing into the world of carpentry and eco-building will have a chance to explore the type of programs offered at Okanagan College, as instructors and students will be hosting an information session on their new energy efficient homes project.
The college’s trades department will be hosting an information session on November 23rd at 5:00 p.m. to showcase their Residential Construction program.
Those students who sign up for the program in February will have a unique opportunity to hone their skills through the college’s energy efficient homes project, which is designed to study how new building technologies can translate to energy savings for homeowners.
Students participating in the project will work with local builder AuthenTech Homes to install the latest energy efficient technologies into a residential home, and will then compare how these technologies fare against your average family home.
“These students are the future of our industry,” said Russ Foster, President of Blenk Development Corporation and Wilden’s Project Manager. “We feel it is important to work with the College and UBCO to ensure that students have meaningful opportunities to build their skills and put their knowledge to work.”
The information session will be held in room T137, Okanagan College Kelowna Campus, 1000 KLO Road.

At this time, design and preparation are underway for the build, while actual construction is expected to begin in the spring.
