Memphis Blues Barbeque House in Kelowna is expanding to Rutland.

In a tweet on November 29th the announcement was made.

Owner Andre Thomas said the people of Rutland have wanted this for a while.

“We get a lot of UBCO students in that neighbourhood as well, there’s a lot of Big White traffic. Our downtown store is very seasonal, very tourist focused.”

The new store will be located on the corner of Rutland Road and Highway 33.

“The building is up now. They’re just putting the glass on and we’ve actually started doing our underground plumbing and electrical work already. It’s a single story building with only three tenants in the building,” Thomas noted.

The other storefronts are a Starbucks and a Domino’s Pizza.

Memphis Blues Barbeque House number two will be opening in March 2016. Thomas expects four full time employees will be hired as well as a manager.

“We are currently keeping our eye out for a manager with food and kitchen experience,” Thomas said, who is accepting resumes for the new location already.
