UPDATE 2 (4:10): FortisBC expects to have power fully restored by 6:00 p.m. Tuesday evening.

Update (1:46pm):

The power outage in Kelowna has been caused by a fault in the system and was called in shortly after noon today. Michael Allison, Spokesperson for FortisBC said the outage was caused by a failed switch on the corner of Dilworth Drive and Baron Road.

Just before 1:30 p.m., crews were able to restore power to 295 customers out of the 596 customers without power.

Allison said crews are currently working on returning power to the other 301 customers but no estimated time has been given.

Customers without power are located between Dilworth Drive and Harvey Avenue.

Original Story: The power seems to be out throughout Kelowna, including Orchard Park Shopping Centre.

Several people have tweeted saying they are without power.

FortisBC has also tweeted saying crews are conducting line patrol to identify the outage.

Calls have been put out to FortisBC and KelownaNow will update the story when more information becomes available.
