Meet Kelowna’s newest millionaire as the winner of a one million dollar 6/49 ticket has come forward.

Tuong Van Mai only recently began purchasing lottery tickets and won $1 million in the December 16th, 2015 Lotto 6/49 draw.

“When I checked my ticket before work I couldn’t believe I won $1 million because I never thought I would win that big,” admitted Van Mai. “I was shocked and overwhelmed but I still went into work that day.”

Van Mai plans to share the wealth with her parents and will celebrate the massive win with her family over Christmas.

“The money will be put towards buying a new home for my retired parents because they have done so much to support me,” smiled Van Mai.

The winning ticket was purchased at Superstore in Westbank. Lotto 6/49 is getting into the holiday spirit, offering a Holiday Super Draw on the December 23rd and December 26th draws, with five Guaranteed Prize Draws for $1 million each. These prizes are offered to players in addition to the regular Lotto 6/49 jackpot on both draws.
