Residents are reminded to take advantage of an online feedback form about the future of dog parks in the city.

The City of Kelowna is looking for input about the future of dog parks in the city and will receive feedback until end of day Monday, February 15th. The form is available to help inform dog park criteria, identify benefits and potential concerns, and provide suggestions.

NRG Research Group has completed the telephone survey and is now preparing the results report. The survey’s goals were to gauge residents’ level of support for off-leash dog parks, tolerance level for off-leash dog parks in neighbourhoods, and identify potential priority locations. Questions in the statistically valid survey differ from the ones asked in the online feedback form.

Council will be presented the results from the survey and feedback form in March, along with the next steps for neighbourhood consultations. Results will be posted online following the meeting. Once potential sites for off-leash dog parks and dog beaches have been assessed and prioritized, each park will have to: be scoped, have cost estimates prepared, and be subject to the same budget approval process as other City projects.
