Hopeful homeowners gathered during the opening day of Central Green and more than $10 million worth of homes were bought.

The rapid sales at Central Green Kelowna comes just after British Columbia had a record breaking number of home sales in the province last month. According to Mission Group, in February Kelowna saw the largest number of real estate sales since 2008.

The homes within Central Green are designed to promote pedestrian and cyclist-friendly lifestyles. It will be walker-friendly and an overpass that will connect pedestrian and cyclists with the entire neighbourhood.

“Central Green is so attractive for homeowners looking for urban living in such a prime location in the downtown,” said Randy Shier president of Mission Group Homes.

“This development has been envisioned for many years so it wasn’t too surprising to see so many people camp out for hours before the doors opened for sales. Our team was busy helping homeowners write contracts on their new homes all day.”

On the opening day more than 600 people gathered to view the display home and sign their names on a purchase contact.

“This is a unique opportunity to live in the new hub of Kelowna in parkside homes, starting from just $219,900,” said Shier.

“Affordability is a key component of this community, with strata fees starting from $144 per month.”

Residents can choose from one, two, junior two, or junior three-bedroom homes as well as two-storey lofts.

Central Green is Kelowna’s first residential, LEED designed condominium community.
