Kelowna RCMP says it was a relatively quiet long weekend as no significant incidents were reported.

According to RCMP Cst Jesse O’Donaghey, roadblocks were set up in various locations all weekend long and officers were successful in removing drunk drivers from roadways. The Kelowna detachment averaged 139 police files each day over the long weekend, West Kelowna 17 files, and Lake Country eight.

O’Donaghey calls these numbers reasonable given the increased volumes expected on a long weekend. The call volumes are slightly up over 2015 May long weekend numbers, which most likely can be attributed to an early increase in warm weather.

More people headed to the region over the long weekend to enjoy outdoor activities, but overall, people were well behaved.
