Step into the past and experience the Roaring '20s firsthand with a live performance of The Great Gatsby.

An adaptation of the beloved book by F. Scott Fitzgerald is hitting the stage in Kelowna thanks to New Vintage Theatre this July.

Even though there will be no Leonardo DiCaprio featured in the play, New Vintage aims to bring Kelowna a high-energy performance.

“The story opens with the frenzy that is the 1920s. Post-war, pre-Depression; the city drank, danced and partied like there was no tomorrow,” a press release stated.

“Woman loosened their corsets stiffened their determination and became suffragettes and flapper.”

Men in that era were on the same page. The ones who survived war wanted to celebrate, drink, gamble and have a lot of affairs with flapper girls.

New Vintage Theatre promises a glamourous and mysterious production.

“The stunning cast will wow you and make you feel like you have truly tripped the light fantastic to 1920s New York City.”

After the show, theatre-goers will have the chance to step into the 1920s themselves.

“We even have a post-show Speakeasy that you can hang out in and grab a drink in post-show. Knock three times, show your ticket and we will show you a great time, we promise,” said artistic director Bonnie Gratz.

The Great Gatsby will be playing at Rotary Centre for the Arts from July 13-18 and 20-23.

Tickets can be purchased at the door for $30, online, or by calling 250-717-5304.
