One of the coolest nannies ever will be flying into Kelowna in the latest production from Kelowna Actors Studio.

The theatre company will bring to life Mary Poppins beginning July 28.

The performance kicks off in England in 1910. George and Winifred Banks live on Cherry Tree Lane with their misbehaving children. The previous nanny has just quit in a huff and the charming Mary Poppins drops in to save the day. She's determined to make the children happy with the items inside her big bag.

The nanny will be played by Dharma Bizier.

Bizier has had leading roles in Fiddler on the Roof, Catch Me If You Can and Footloose. The actress has spent the past year studying musical theatre at Sheridan College in Oakville, Ont.

This family musical is based on a series of books by P.L. Travers and the 1964 film starring Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke.

A well-known actor, Nathan Flavel, will be stepping out of a two-year hiatus to play the lovable jack-of-all-trades, Bert.

Flavel is also known as the co-owner and executive producer for Kelowna Actors Studio.

Anna Jacyszyn will be playing the role of Winifred Banks. This is Jacyszyn’s debut to the Kelowna Actor Studio stage. She is no stranger to the stage, though. Jacyszyn’s career as a jazz singer has taken her to stages across the world.

Winifred's husband will be played by Don Plant. For the past 25 years, Plant has been performing in the Okanagan. He last played Hook in Peter Pan.

Kelowna will leave the Community Theatre full of smiles because of the lively musical numbers performed by these local performers..

The wonderful and magical ways that Mary Poppins helped fix the troubled Banks family will be on display from July 28 to Aug. 6 at Kelowna Community Theatre.

Tickets for the show are on sale now. You can buy your ticket for Mary Poppins online, by calling 250-862-2867 or picking up the tickets at the Orchard Park Shopping Centre at Kelowna Tickets.
