A sudden thunderstorm hit the Central Okanagan Tuesday evening bringing with it lightning and plenty of rainfall.

The storm hit Kelowna about 8 p.m. and lasted over an hour, but not before dumping nearly five millimetres of rain.

Readers sent KelownaNow video and photos of the storm as the rain caused some localized flooding and made for stunning pictures.

The wild weather appears to be past us and hot weather is on its way with Environment Canada forecasting highs about 30 C for the rest of the week.

While there is still a chance of showers into the weekend, it is not expected to materialize until late Friday.
