RCMP detachments in the province have been playing musical chairs with their airplanes and helicopters.
A fixed-wing aircraft, otherwise known as an airplane, has been moved to Kelowna from the North District. The change will allow the Southeast District to have a better fixed-wing capability.
A helicopter from the Southeast District has also been transferred to the North District.
“BC's Air Services fleet are strategically placed throughout BC in order to support our policing services and unique geography,” said Insp. Nigel Bushe, Officer in Charge of E Division Air Services.
The helicopter was given to the North District because they didn't have one before and the same goes for the fixed wing plane for the Southeast District.
“We're very pleased to have a helicopter now stationed in North District,” stated Chief Superintendent Lesley Bain, North District Commander.
“It is a valuable asset that will further our efforts to protect and serve Northern British Columbia.”
The North District is 73 per cent of British Columbia's geographic area.
