Pandosy Village in Kelowna has changed its name to “Rainbow Village” in support of pride week in the city.

Historically, many of the neighbourhood's small shops decorate for pride week, but the Pandosy Village Business Association decided to step it up and create an even bigger splash of colour in Kelowna.

"Our association is more about community than just business," said Arnica Rowan, a PVBA director and owner of Pounce & Hound Fine Pet Goods.

"We live, work and play in Pandosy Village, and we want our neighbourhood to be as welcoming as possible to all folks and families. Our little shops can be powerful agents of positive change."

Shops will be decked out in rainbow decorations and staff will even be sporting “Rainbow Village” buttons and rainbow clothing.

Pride Week in Kelowna runs from Aug. 6 until Aug. 13.
